ORIGINZ - The Superpowered Card Game

Faithful backers - Lots of exciting news to share since our last update:

1) We're thrilled to announce that we've entered into a collaboration agreement with Golden Bell Studios.

 

Golden Bell brings professional support and a global, established network that will ultimately make Originz a higher quality product, with a brighter future!  We'll be able to leverage Golden Bell's extensive architecture to manufacture, fulfill, and ultimately move to retail in greater volume. 

Golden Bell approached us just after our last update, so things went on a short hold while we got to know the Golden team and come to the right arrangement.  Although we didn't want a delay, we eventually grew confident (over the course of many meetings) that the collaboration with Golden Bell will result in a better, more enduring product for you, or backers.   

On the less exciting side, this has pushed our delivery schedule to 4th Quarter of this year - late, but still in time for the holidays.  We really, REALLY can't wait for delivery day.

2)  As promised, our official website has been updated with previews of every card in the game, and the print-ready Rulebook.  Check them out at www.originzthegame.com.

3) If you can't wait to play, click the link on the website to head over to the Originz Tabletop Simulator - the final playtest version of the game is uploaded and free for all!  

Lastly, special thanks to Jason Micelli of Geek Fever Games (designer of Dead Man's Dubloons, currently on Kickstarter!) for an awesome shout-out in this interview.

We're almost there!

Hi everyone,

We're doing our final review of the digital files for the cards and the rulebook this week, and then it's off to the printer for fabrication of the prototype.   We'll also update the Website, BGG Page, and Tabletop Simulator module at that time.  

 We should receive the prototypes by mid-April, and if we are pleased with the result (we expect to be), then we will hit the "manufacture" button!   We'll be sure to post pictures so you can see the proposed end-product for yourselves. 

In the meantime, we've kept our noses to the grindstone, and made a series of improvements that undoubtedly make the game a much more polished product.  This includes:

•   Significantly clearer rules, card-types and key terms.  This will be posted soon.
•   Each Origin now has 2 ultra-powerful (yet costly) "3 Energy cost" cards.  
•   An upgraded template which covers up even less art and includes Card-Type symbols!  Here are some examples!

Soon we will  be sending an email with a special link to BackerKit surveys. It is important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information for fulfilling your rewards. You do not need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey, just click on the survey link, fill it out, and you’re all good to go! 

You will be able to answer questions about your rewards preferences, provide shipping information, and pledge for more “add-ons” if you'd like. You do not have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email! 

 If you decide later that you want to edit your survey response, you can go back to your survey and change it any time before we lock down the surveys for processing. If you need to review your information or pledge status, you will be able to recover your survey here: originz-the-superpowered-card-game.backerkit.com.

STATUS UPDATE & FREE GOODIES:

As you've probably figured out, we're running a little behind schedule, but this is only because we are making sure that Originz will be everything we promised, and more!

To make it up to you all, we've decided to UNLOCK & INCLUDE two copies of each of the previously unlocked Power Cosmic stretch goal Cards.  Here's a quick preview of those two cards, in the latest template!

Issue #17 - Reporting for duty!

Wow, time flies by when your having fun!  Since our last update, we've:

• Converted almost all of the cards to the new template (and re-balanced a few!)
• Revamped the Rulebook with a more graphical, professional design - can't wait to show you all!  Endless thanks to Chris Fisher, Darrin Horbal, and Jason Miceli for their valuable feedback.
• Finished the majority of the Supreme Being Alternate Art Cards...here are just a few awesome examples of the extra cards that everyone will get!

 We're on track, but we have lots to do by the holiday break, including:

• Getting the digital files to the manufacturer & getting the prototype on order
• Updating the ORIGINZ website and Tabletop Simulator module with those files
• Sending out the backer update

We'll be sure to keep you up to date.  Remember, if you have friends that love card games and comics, there is still time to order extra copies of ORIGINZ via the Backerkit Preorder Store!
